In this post, Arborist Abroad, your reliable provider of tree services in Lutz, FL, explains the tree removal process so you know what to expect.
The Risk Assessment
We start every job with a thorough evaluation of your tree, assessing how difficult it will be to remove. Our arborists look for the following:
- Decay
- Storm damage
- Structural weakness
- Nearby structures or power lines
Even on spacious properties, one must be careful when felling trees to avoid the possibility of damage or injury.
Safety Precautions Before Work Begins
We start the tree removal process by cordoning off the area and donning our protective gear. Protecting nearby structures and landscaping is just as important as protecting our workers.
We use rigging systems and, where necessary, cranes to lower branches and trunk sections as safely as possible. Proper planning takes time but ensures that everything goes off smoothly.
The Cutting Techniques Depend on the Situation
You can’t approach two different trees in exactly the same way; you need to account for differences in size, species, and location. Our team is used to working in tighter spaces, using precise methods, and removing the wood one section at a time.
We’re careful to make intentional cuts so that the tree or branches fall in a safe way. By using the right techniques, we protect the surrounding trees and your landscaping.
Sectional Dismantling for Tight Spaces
This means that, instead of cutting your tree down in one swoop, we remove it one section at a time. Our arborist uses a rigging system to reach the uppermost branches and lower them a few at a time. He then works his way down the trunk until the stump is all that’s left.
This tree removal process takes a little more time, but it’s the best method by far when safety is of the utmost importance.
Stump Grinding Clears the Remaining Base
Once we’re done, we’ll deal with what’s left of the stump. You have two choices: grinding or full removal. The latter gets rid of the roots as well, so it takes longer and leaves a big hole. And while it adds more to the cost of tree removal, it also ensures there’s no regrowth.
Stump grinding leaves the roots in place but grinds the trunk down below ground level. You can then easily cover over the remains and level your yard. The roots will decay over the coming years.
Debris Removal and Site Cleanup
After we finish cutting down the tree and grinding the stump, we clear up the debris. If you ask us to, we’ll pile the wood neatly so you can use it for firewood. You can also use the chips as mulch.
If you prefer a clean yard, we’ll haul the debris away, checking that there’s nothing left behind.
Ready To Remove a Tree Safely?
What is the most important part of the tree removal process? To hire a team that understands how to proceed safely and efficiently. In theory, cutting down a tree is simple, but in practice, there’s a lot that can go wrong, which is why you should never consider it a DIY job.
Arborist Aboard doesn’t take shortcuts; we plan each stage of the project carefully, from establishing the tree removal permit requirements to the final cleanup.
